Embracing AI for a friendly learning environment

A new series of workshops for boosting students' confidence in using AI for learning

EmpowerAI: Inclusive Pathways to Digital Learning, is a challenging Seed Fund project aiming to create a welcoming digital learning environment through a series of workshops called "AI Decoding Challenge." This initiative will bring together Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students from diverse backgrounds at three European Universities: TU Graz, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and Politecnico di Torino, which leads the project. By using AI tools and focusing on inclusive design, the initiative will help students connect and collaborate, fostering education and future partnerships among the Unite! Universities.

Three in-person workshops will be held to tackle tasks of different difficulty levels, using various AI tools such as ChatGPT and others (Scopus AI, Notion AI, Gamma AI). The workshops will gather 30 students at their respective universities while emphasising flexible group work, different ways to complete tasks, and varied instructions. The goal is to boost students' confidence in using AI for learning while promoting equal educational opportunities for all participants.

An inclusive collaboration ecosystem will act as a stepping stone for student connections across Unite! universities, facilitating knowledge exchange through innovative technologies while establishing foundations for future cross-campus initiatives. While AI tools play a significant role, the core focus will be on empowering students to improve their studying and self-organisation skills. The initiative emphasises diversity and inclusion, acknowledging that each student's learning journey is unique and valuable.

“We believe that AI should be accessible to every student, regardless of their technical background, and our goal is to create an inclusive environment where diverse learners can confidently embrace these powerful tools for their academic journey"

comments Yuchen Fan, Politecnico PhD student and Project Coordinator.
